- North Texas Chapter of NAACP sponsors first Negro History week
1973
- Center for Ethnic Affairs created with Alma Ayers as Director
- All ethnic organizations on campus are brought together for the first time
- Mexican American Student’s Association (MASA) founded
- Rosalind Johnson elected NT’s first black homecoming queen
1975
- Center for Ethnic Affairs changed name to Intercultural Center with Harve King as Director
- First Minority Awards Banquet
- First Sharing and Growth Conference
1976
- Center for Ethnic Affairs becomes Intercultural Center
- Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Sr. speaks on campus during Black Emphasis Week
1984
- First MLK Candlelight service
1985
- Dr. Greg Sawyer becomes Director of Intercultural Services
- I Care program recreated into STAR (Skill Training and Academic Retention)
1989
- First Celebración Banquet
1995
- Blue Ribbon Committee Formed to call out racial injustice on campus
- Committee fights for the creation of the Office of Multicultural Affairs
- Office of Multicultural Affairs and Intercultural Services are combined and renamed Center for Cultural Diversity with Dr. Pamela K. Hill as Director
- NT men cross Denton in own Million Man March

- First Native American Heritage Month held in collaboration with Texas Woman’s University’s Intercultural Services Office
1999
- Center for Cultural Diversity renamed Student Ethnic Enrichment Center with Dr. Pamela Hill-Traynham as Director
- First Women of Color Seminar

- CATCH-UP program created
2002
- Student Ethnic Enrichment Center changes name to Multicultural Center with Cheylon Brown as Director
- Center partners with Denton’s Juneteenth Celebration Committe and hosts Juneteenth pageant on campus
