Beulah Harriss
Beulah Harriss, pictured below in her graduation photo, was the first woman hired as a member of the athletic faculty at the North Texas State Normal College (now University of North Texas). She worked for the College from 1914, until her retirement in 1960.

Izetta Sparks
Izetta Sparks was a student at North Texas State Normal College (now University of North Texas). She earned her permanent teaching certificate in 1920, and later earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well. In her scrapbook she has a news clipping that describes Beulah Harriss’ exemplary work as the basketball coach.
