Fun and Games: Miniature Books
This small cabinet covered in silk, with a glass door, houses a collection of French miniature books. The stories consist of fables and stories like Aladdin. Created in the late 1800s, this type of fanciful collection would have been purchased for higher-class children. This set was clearly well cared for.
The Gigantick History volume 2 and Curiosities in the Tower of London were written by Thomas Boreman in 1740. Boreman wrote children’s books that would spark their curiosity in the world around them. These books focus on landmarks of London and the exotic animals housed in the Tower of London.
