A Tour Through Their History: Voitech Kubasta

Voitech Kubasta was an artist for Artia, a state-run import/export company in Prague. In the 1950s and 1960s, he engineered and illustrated pop-up books for Artia that were marketed throughout the world by Bancroft and Company of London. Kubasta created colorful, engaging designs that often accompanied fairy tales.

The image is of a pop-up that stands upright of a man in a red robe with a woman completely covered in clothing on the left and a man in a white turban in the background. In the middle of the scene is a giant water fountain. The background of the picture shows the shiny golden building in the distance and two tall, pointy trees.

Some of his books, such as Christopher Columbus, are larger in format and contain a single pop-up.
